Summer Skin Care Routine

As we approach warmer weather, it’s a good time to consider switching to your summer skin care routine. Your skin may react differently in warm temperatures, so making some changes might benefit you and keep your skin healthy. The basics of your routine won’t change from season to season, but there’s a few things you can do to adapt it.

Gently Cleanse

It can be tempting during the summer to over-wash ourselves when we’ve been active. Keep cleansing to short bursts to avoid drying out your skin if you’re washing more than once a day. Use a gentle cleanser like a foaming gel to lighten up on cleansing.

Keep Skin Hydrated

Switching to a lighter moisturiser that contains a higher SPF (30 or higher) is a good idea during warm weather where you’re likely to be exposed to the sun often. Combining your SPF protector and moisturiser is recommended to keep from over moisturising your skin. To keep your skin hydrated, you should apply moisturiser after washing as well as after sun exposure. Another way to keep your skin hydrated is to ensure you drink plenty of water.

Exfoliate for Clear & Smooth Skin

During the summer you might want to add some extra exfoliation into your routine, especially if you find your skin feels oilier. This will help to open any blocked pores and remove excess oil from the surface of the skin. Exfoliated will also help your skin to absorb moisturisers and serums.

Hair Removal

An optional addition to your skin care routine during the summer. If you prefer a smooth, hair-free look then consider face and body hair removal. This has the benefit of helping moisturisers soak into the skin more easily, but be aware that you’re also removing a layer of protection so be sure to apply SPF consistently! You might want to consider a different hair removal method for the summer. For example., using an electric trimmer to remove the hair will help to avoid any redness or irritation caused by some hair removal methods.
