Step 1: Trimming your pets nails with the Electric Nail Grinder
- Ensure your pet is calm and comfortable before starting. If they don’t like having their nails trimmed it can be a good idea to wrap them in a towel with only the paw you are going to trim out.
- Hold your pet’s paw gently but firmly.
- Switch on the grinder and slowly file each nail in short bursts. Avoid excessive pressure.
- Use the smooth finishing stone attachment to round off any rough edges.
- Reward your pet with a treat to associate the process with positivity.
🔹 Why This Step?
Trimming nails before bathing prevents accidental scratches and ensures comfort during the grooming process.
You can use a pet nail clipper, but the grinder allows you to safely shorten the nails without the risk of cutting their nailbed (the quick).

Step 2: Bathing your pet
Before we get to trimming their hair we need to get their fur clean!
- Wet your pet’s coat thoroughly with warm water.
- Apply a shampoo to their coat, working it into a rich lather. We recommend using our fresh & clean Dirty Beastie Shampoo.
- Massage gently to remove dirt, excess oils, and odors.
- Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear.
- Towel dry your pet or use a pet-friendly dryer on a low heat setting.
🔹 Why This Step?
A clean coat makes clipping easier, prevents dulling of the clipper blades, and reduces irritation.

Step 3: Brushing the coat
- Start with gentle strokes, we recommend using the Slicker Brush brushing in the direction of hair growth.
- Focus on detangling mats and removing loose fur, especially in thick-coated breeds.
- Pay extra attention to sensitive areas like behind the ears, under the legs, and around the neck.
🔹 Why This Step?
Brushing removes knots and loose hair, ensuring an even clip and reducing stress on the clipper.

Step 4: Clipping with Wahl Colour Pro Rechargeable Pet Clipper
Finally we get to the actual grooming! for ease of clipping we suggest the Colour Pro Rechargeable Pet Clipper, as it has convenient comb length colour coding to help you work out the best fur length for you.
How to Use:
- Select the appropriate comb attachment based on your pet’s coat length.
- Turn on the clipper and start from the back, moving in the direction of hair growth.
- Use slow, steady strokes, ensuring an even trim.
- Trim around sensitive areas (face, paws, belly) with extra care.
- Remove the comb attachment for precision trimming around the ears and paws if needed.
Step 5: Finishing Touches with Wahl Professional Pet Cologne – Baby Powder Scent
Although the main clip might be done, you can always go above and beyond for your pet friend. Why not treat them to a nice smelling pet cologne? We suggest the Professional Pet Cologne – Baby Powder
✅How to Use:
- Hold the bottle about 6 inches away from your pet’s coat.
- Lightly mist the cologne over their fur.
- Avoid spraying directly on the face or near the eyes.
