Home / Product Guides / How To Clean and Maintain Your Hair Clippers
To keep your clippers in good working condition, it’s important to keep them clean and well-maintained as this will help them last longer and ensure they give you the best performance during every cut. Here’s a step-by-step on how to clean and maintain hair clippers:
To get the best performance from your precision ground blade, you should ensure it is kept clear of any loose hair and debris. Using the cleaning brush provided in your kit, brush out anything that might be trapped in the blade. Alternatively, an old toothbrush will do the trick. If you have a rinseable snap on/off blade on your clipper, you can easily remove the blade and rinse it clean. Avoid leaving your blades wet as this may cause rusting. To thoroughly clean and sanitise your blades, you can use Wahl Hygienic Clipper Spray. This will disinfect the blade of bacteria and viruses.
Using Wahl Blade Oil lubricates the blades and allows them to run at the correct speed and ensure better cutting, it’s the best way to maintain hair clippers. It also helps the clipper run cooler. We suggest oiling your blades before you use the clipper and after every use. This should be your next step after you’ve cleaned the blade. Leaving the blade properly lubricated after each use will help to avoid corrosion.
We recommend storing your blades in a low moisture environment to avoid corrosion. Keeping them in a storage case or pouch will help keep them safe from getting chipped or dropped which can damage the blade or knock them out of alignment. If you have a cordless clipper, make sure it’s fully charged ahead of use to give you plenty of time for a full haircut.
Every time you get your clippers out for use, you should ensure the blade is completely clear of debris for a smooth cut. The blade should also be lubricated for the best cutting performance. Check that the blade it correctly aligned and that there are no missing teeth to ensure it’s safe for use.
